The role of finance in economic growth is a topical issue marked by controversial results, some studies favoring the impact of financial development with its two main components (capital markets and financial intermediaries) on economic growth, while others have indicated the opposite. This study aims at re-examining this relationship using the generalized least squares (GLS) method on a sample of 16 middle-income countries in the MENA region, over a period from 1999-2019.
