Obstetric fistula remains a major public health problem in sub-Saharan Africa, mainly affecting women living in contexts of socio-economic and cultural vulnerability. Although biomedical solutions, notably surgical repair, are now well established, the persistence of the disease reveals the limits of a strictly medical approach. This study offers a socio-anthropological analysis of the diversity of educational models used in the management of obstetric fistula in Africa and Chad. It examines the interactions between traditional, biomedical and psychosocial knowledge, and highlights their influence on prevention, access to care, destigmatization and social reintegration of affected women. The study highlights the need for an integrated, culturally contextualized and socially inclusive educational approach.
