Waste collectors represent a professional category highly exposed to health risks in developing countries, including Benin. This study analyzes the protection practices and health risk prevention measures among waste collectors in the Commune of Abomey-Calavi, Atlantique Department. Based on a cross-sectional survey of 100 waste collectors, the data reveal major deficiencies: 94% of workers have not been vaccinated against tetanus, 88% do not shower before returning home, 64% have received no training in waste management, and 47% have no personal protective equipment. These findings reveal a structural health precariousness amplified by the absence of institutional prevention policies and training. Recommendations are made regarding work organization, personal protective equipment, vaccination, and capacity building.
